The F.A Cup ............ Can we win it?

I believe that Arsenal have all the skill, strength, depth and ability in their squad to win the domestic double this season even though they face a tough test in long term rivals and title contenders Manchester United on Saturday in the F.A Cup 5th round.
Saturday will see Arsenal travel to Old Trafford to take on the Red Devils and I think that this is probably the best time for the gunners to take on United as Arsenal have hit a rich vein of form since they were thump 5 – 1 at the lane which I think was a blessing in disguise because after that loss we have seen Arsenal become more focused and more ruthless in front of goal. United on the other hand have had a sudden slump in form because they have failed to win in their last 3 games and have not played to the high standard that we are used to seeing them play.
This Saturday’s cup tie will be the match of the cup and would have been better if it was a cup final but even though it is the 5th round i think that we will see a great game with 2 of the best free flowing team in Europe and with the likes of Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo, Cesc Frabregas and Emanuel Adebayor so we are in for an exciting cup tie which in theory should provide a lot of goals as we are seeing the Premierships two top scorers on show and two of the most creative midfields in the Premiership so I am really looking for to this Saturday’s match and see football the way its played.

Post Match Arsenal vs Blackburn Rovers

Yesterday saw Arsenal go 5points clear of Manchester United with a 2 - 0 win over Blackburn Rover, Arsenal were off to a quick start when Phillipe Senderos powered home a cross from the Brazilian born croatian Eduarda Da Silva with a tremendous header in the 4th minute of the game, from such a strong start to the game the fans could feel the Blackburn were in for a thrashing but that was not the case.
Arsenal continued to pile on the pressure throughout the majority of the game but with Hleb hitting the post and Fabregas, Flamini and Adebayor all coming close it looked like it could have been one of those night where Blackburn could nick it at the death also Brad Friedal was in great form and kept Rovers in the game for the majority of the match.
Then finally in the 92nd minute of the match in form striker Adebayor grabbed his 12th goal in 9 games sealing the win for Arsenal and putting him level in goal tally with another in form player Cristiano Ronaldo.
Man of the match to me would be Hleb as he is a bit of an unsung hero and with his great dribbling and ball control he has all the skill to help unlock even the toughest defences and with the pass he gave to Adebayor to score his 19th goal this show that he also is an important match winner for the gunner.

Pre Match Arsenal vs Blackburn Rovers

After a disappointing draw from a mistake by Jen Lehmann earlier this season The Gunners are looking to win tonights game and put some day lighter between them and Manchester United at the top.
A win tonight is the most important thing for Arsene Wengers men as it will give them a huge physcoligical boost and could be a definig point in winning the premiership this season as the other title contenders dropped points.
Arsenal will welcome back former Gunner David Bentley who will feature for the opposing side and will look to impress his former manager with a good performance against his former team mates so Bentley will be a worrying threat for Arsenal to look out for.
The Team news for Arsenal could be that Kolo Toure could return for tonights game at the Emirates in for Phillipe Senderos who is struggling with a knee injury, Jen Lehmann looks to keep his place in goal as Manuel Almunia is out ill and there could be a start for young Theo Walcott.

What a Boost

After Super Sunday which saw Manchester United lose to their local rivals Manchester city with goals from Darius Vassel and Benjani in the Manchester derby this put a real dent in United title hopes and gave a big boost to the other teams in the hunt for the title.
Super Sunday had a added bonus for Arsenal because it also saw other title contenders Chelsea and Liverpool draw, Arsenal are boosted for tonights game against Blackburn Rover with the knowledge that a win against them will put the 5points clear of United and put them in a strong position to win the premiership.
